Fatal Accident Claims Lives of Two Female Students
On Friday morning, a tragic accident occurred on the Felele road in Lokoja, leading to the death of two female students from the Federal University Lokoja and Kogi State Polytechnic.
The incident involved an overloaded large truck that lost control and collided with a tricycle (known locally as Keke NAPEP) transporting passengers into town.
Reports indicate that the tricycle was carrying four passengers at the time of the accident. Tragically, while two survived with serious injuries, the two students did not survive the crash.
At the crash site, an ID belonging to Covenant Omolola Isaac, a Geology major at the Federal University Lokoja, was found. The second deceased, identified as Taiwo Abimbola, was recognized by peers as studying for a Higher National Diploma in Science Laboratory Technology at Kogi State Polytechnic.
Emergency responders from the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) transported the injured passengers to the State Specialist Hospital in Lokoja for medical assistance.
The National Association of Science Laboratory Technology from Kogi State Polytechnic issued a statement of condolence confirming the loss of Taiwo Abimbola. The President, Akor Kelvin, remarked:
