The Deteriorating Health of Cancer Patients Relying Solely on Herbal Remedies

Cancer patients' health worsens as they use only medicinal herbs

Critical Health Consequences of Herbal Cancer Treatment

Recently, Phu Tho Hospital admitted a woman exhibiting signs of severe health complications, including extreme fatigue, tissue death, ulcers, and bleeding, after relying on herbal remedies for breast cancer treatment.

The 58-year-old patient, diagnosed two years earlier, rejected conventional medical care in favor of herbal treatments. Consequently, her tumor continued to grow and develop ulcers, leading to her deteriorating condition.

Medical professionals emphasize that early detection and treatment of breast cancer significantly enhance recovery chances. In this instance, the delay in seeking proper care has left doctors with no choice but to provide only palliative measures.

This case is not isolated; other cancer patients have also faced health declines tied to untreated reliance on herbal solutions without adequate medical supervision.

The Poison Control Center at Bach Mai Hospital in Hanoi documented a similar incident involving a 44-year-old patient, N.T.M, who experienced acute liver failure after self-treating breast cancer with a herbal supplement. Despite being diagnosed with goiter and breast cancer two months prior, she resorted to daily consumption of a yellow medicinal powder, which resulted in severe symptoms like jaundice and poor nutrition.

Upon hospital arrival, her liver function was critically impaired, necessitating intubation. Despite medical efforts, her health did not improve, and she sadly passed away shortly after being discharged.

In another alarming case, a female patient sought to treat thyroid cancer with wild taro juice and soon after encountered severe breathing challenges and swelling in her throat. Cam Khe District Medical Center reported her case and highlighted that wild taro can cause irritations, particularly to sensitive oral tissues.

Thanks to quick medical intervention, the patient recovered within three days, yet the episode underscores the risks tied to unverified herbal remedies.

Despite ongoing alerts regarding the hazards of unsupported traditional therapies, many continue to place faith in their effectiveness. This misplaced confidence can worsen patient conditions and diminish their chances for recovery.

Nguyen Trung Kien from Phu Tho General Hospital mentioned that some patients may appear to improve after using herbal treatments, attributing this to psychological effects. Elements within these herbs may possess anti-inflammatory and immune system-enhancing properties, leading patients to believe their condition is better than it truly is.
