Oscar Pistorius has been released on parole since January 5, 2024, after serving nine years for murdering his former partner, model and lawyer Reeva Steenkamp.
The tragic event that unfolded on February 14, 2013, shocked the world when the celebrated Paralympic athlete fatally shot his girlfriend. Pistorius claims he mistook her for an intruder in his home.
This year, he was granted parole, a move that sparked significant controversy, as he had originally faced charges of manslaughter, which were escalated to murder.
Recent reports from the South African publication Netwerk24 indicate that Pistorius is starting anew romantically. He is reportedly in a relationship with Rita Greyling, a 33-year-old business consultant from Wakkerstroom, Mpumalanga, who has been a family friend for several years.
Close associates have verified to Netwerk24 that the pair is indeed dating, although they are keeping the details of their relationship private.
A Changed Man
According to a source close to Pistorius, “He is focused on rebuilding his life quietly. He avoids social venues like bars and restaurants, keeping a low profile.”
It’s evident that Pistorius’s life has dramatically changed: “He is gradually re-entering society, mainly associating with families his own family has known for years. It has only been three months since he started dating again,” the source noted.
Oscar is distancing himself from the public eye, striving to reconstruct his existence. He is restricted from leaving his residential area, carrying firearms, or interacting with Reeva Steenkamp’s relatives.
