While the clips were originally meant to showcase Swift’s dual role as the director and star, observant fans spotted something unusual in one specific segment.
In one clip from the BTS footage of “Bejeweled,” Swift was seen conversing with the renowned makeup artist Pat McGrath while holding her phone. Initially, fans noticed that her phone case displayed an image of her cuddling with her then-boyfriend, Joe Alwyn.
However, in a newer version of the footage, fans claimed that the image had been altered, so Alwyn’s likeness was no longer visible. This change caught the attention of numerous Swift supporters who took to social media to speculate about its meaning.
“She’s really in her revisionist history era, and I’m here for it,” one user remarked on X.

While some fans interpreted this alteration as a deliberate effort to erase the actor from her narrative, others took a more humorous view.
