Gayle is canceling her U.S. Avoiding College tour later this fall to focus on getting used to her new life as a pop star. But to be clear: “I’m still definitely not going to college.”
Writing on Instagram that those who bought tickets would receive refunds, Gayle assured fans that she’d hit the road next year. “I’m learning how to be an adult and how best to do this new life,” she wrote on Monday. “I love it so much and I’m trying to do it the best way I can.”
Gayle added that she’ll still play at her planned festivals and that she’s “working on new music.” Her planned opener Carlie Hanson shared Gayle’s statement on Twitter and promised she’d be “back on the road in no time.”
The run was set to follow the singer across the U.S. through mid-November, where she’d perform songs from her debut EP, A Study of the Human Experience, Vol. 1 and its second volume, out Oct. 7.
She told Rolling Stone earlier this year that her first EP is about how “life is fucking weird. And life is so hard, but it’s so lovely at the same time. And that’s really confusing. Especially when you’re growing up.”
