Aaron Rodgers has always been open about his feelings, and in his recent Netflix documentary series, Aaron Rodgers: Enigma, the New York Jets quarterback bravely addressed the less desirable aspects of fame and his past relationships with prominent women. During the second episode, the 41-year-old athlete shared how his Super Bowl XLV win and 2011 MVP title thrust him into unexpected and unwanted celebrity.
“I find it intriguing when people suggest that regarding off-field attention, ‘Well, this is what you signed up for,'” Rodgers remarked, as clips of his interactions with former President Barack Obama and celebrating at Disney World played. “I say forget that, I never agreed to that.”

While Rodgers appreciates football, he acknowledged that the fame is accompanied by both “wonderful experiences and quite a few bizarre incidents.” This includes the intense media scrutiny surrounding his relationships with actresses and models like Olivia Munn, Danica Patrick, and Shailene Woodley.
“I didn’t help my situation by dating some high-profile women,” Rodgers admitted, hinting at his well-known partners. His three-year relationship with Munn (2014-2017) faced intense public examination, particularly sparked by rumors about her effect on his familial ties. They both denied these allegations, but it undoubtedly affected their relationship.

Rodgers subsequently dated Patrick, the former NASCAR driver, from 2018 to 2020, before becoming engaged to Woodley during the COVID-19 pandemic. In a 2023 interview with Net-A-Porter, Woodley described their breakup as the “darkest” time of her life, detailing how difficult it was while working on Three Women.
The documentary series goes beyond Rodgers’ love life and explores his contentious opinions on issues like COVID-19 and 9/11, as well as his troubled relationship with family members. Now in a relationship with Mallory Edens, Rodgers appears to have come to terms with his past while standing firm in the decisions and controversies that have influenced his public persona.
For viewers, Aaron Rodgers: Enigma delivers an honest portrayal of the quarterback’s life—from the peaks of football fame to the intricacies of dealing with public attention and personal relationships. As Rodgers remarks, while fame can be “strange,” he has always remained true to himself. The docuseries is now available on Netflix.
