Baldwin’s legal team motioned for the case to be dismissed citing the failure of state investigators to disclose crucial details to the defense, notably regarding a man who delivered a box of live ammunition related to the incident.

Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer halted the trial after learning of the defense’s argument and dismissed the case with prejudice.

The state’s failure to share crucial information has caused unnecessary delays in the trial,” she stated. “Dismissing the case with prejudice is necessary to uphold the judicial system’s integrity and ensure efficient justice delivery. Your motion to dismiss with prejudice is approved.”

Upon the judge’s announcement, Baldwin was moved to tears and embraced his wife Hilaria when the gavel sounded.

Alec Baldwin’s involuntary manslaughter case originated from allegations that he discharged blank rounds at crew members just before the tragic death of Halyna Hutchins in 2021.

Baldwin pleaded not guilty to one count of involuntary manslaughter on the Rust set, while the prosecution argued that his actions were no accident or mistake, citing prior instances of him firing blanks at crew members.
