American wrestling icon, Hulk Hogan, declared his endorsement of former U.S. President and Republican candidate, Donald Trump, at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.
Amid a cheering audience, Hogan removed his jacket, ripped a T-shirt, revealing a tank top displaying the names of the former president and his running mate, Ohio Senator J.D. Vance.
“He will emerge victorious in November, and when he does, we will all be champions again. He’s a remarkable patriot who speaks his mind and always triumphs against all odds,” Hogan expressed about Trump, emphasizing their 35-year acquaintance.
Hulk Hogan’s Belief in Trump’s Leadership
In Hulk Hogan’s view, the United States thrived under the former President’s tenure (2017-2021).
He criticized the current state under Joe Biden‘s presidency, citing issues such as border security and rising prices of essentials.
“The only one capable of rectifying this is Trump,” Hogan proclaimed as Trump blew a kiss of gratitude.
The 70-year-old wrestler, recognized for his distinctive mustache, surprised the audience with his address on the event’s last day before Trump‘s public appearance post an assassination endeavor in Butler, Pennsylvania.
“Following the recent attack on him, it’s time to unleash Trumpamania. Let’s restore America’s greatness,” he urged, echoing the New York mogul’s slogan.
Previous Political Stances
Hogan had favored Democrat Barack Obama‘s candidacy in 2008 but altered his allegiance four years later, as reported by The Washington Post.
In 2015, he advocated to be Trump‘s running mate, and recently hinted at his own presidential bid, which did not materialize.
Hogan, born Terry Gene Bollea, rose to fame in the 80s and 90s as a prominent figure in the Wrestling Federation (WWE).
His legal feud in 2013 notably led to the downfall of gossip platform Gawker for releasing a compromising video featuring him.
Trump has a longstanding association with professional wrestling, sponsoring numerous events and engaging in scripted matches.
