When it comes to sideline reporting, Erin Andrews and Charissa Thompson form a fantastic duo for Fox Sports. However, even the best of friends can have their share of misunderstandings, which was evident during the holiday season, away from the cameras.
It began with Charissa sensing a change in their normal pattern and deciding to address it on their podcast Calm Down With Erin and Charissa. Nervously, Charissa confessed, “I have a confession to make… I didn’t hear from you before our game.” To this, Erin responded, “Did you think I was angry with you?”
Indeed, Charissa was concerned. After years of constant communication and texting before games, Erin’s unexpected silence fueled her worries. “I texted you before the game, expressing my excitement, then… nothing,” she explained.
A Simple Miscommunication
Erin, surprised, was quick to clarify the situation. “Oh my god, no!” she said, affirming that there was no issue between them. The reason behind this mix-up? The hectic holiday season. With celebrations and the continuous NFL coverage, Erin was just too occupied to reply.
Initially, Charissa was still doubtful. “We usually touch base before games, even briefly,” she remarked, acknowledging her tendency to assume the worst. Erin comforted her, stating it was purely a misunderstanding, and both shared a laugh, recognizing how easily confusion can occur during such a busy time.
Prepared for the Playoffs
Despite the brief bout of tension, the duo quickly reconciled, evidencing the strength of their relationship. “We’re like family,” Erin shared. “Sometimes, things get hectic, but that doesn’t change our support for each other.”
With the NFL playoffs approaching, Andrews and Thompson are now aligned, set to provide excellent coverage for their viewers. Although their prior misunderstanding coincided with the New Year, it’s evident that they have come out of it even stronger—and with a sense of humor.
