Ben Affleck is seeking solace in a new female companion as his divorce from Jennifer Lopez unfolds, though Kathleen ‘Kick’ Kennedy is cautious about being perceived as a rebound in their relationship.
Lopez officially filed for divorce from the Batman actor on August 20, citing a separation date of April 26, 2024. The public had noticed their diminishing public appearances together, and eventually, Affleck moved out of their shared residence.
The 52-year-old actor had previously sought comfort from his ex-wife but has since turned to Kathleen Kennedy, daughter of Robert F. Kennedy, for support. They have been seen together, although Kennedy is keen on avoiding any misconceptions.
“Ben and Kick had a previous involvement before he reconciled with JLo,” a source revealed. “Their connection originated from their shared Boston background, with the Kennedy family being highly regarded in Boston.
“She finds him intelligent and appealing, but she is maintaining caution to prevent being labeled as a mistress. She is nothing like JLo and values her privacy.”
Kennedy’s Priorities Amid Affleck’s Divorce
Affleck and Lopez dated in the early 2000s, parted ways for almost two decades, then reunited in 2020, culminating in a marriage in 2022 that seemed like a fairy tale romance.
In the present, their marriage is on the rocks, with Affleck seemingly ready to move forward. How Kennedy perceives Lopez‘s feelings towards the split and her involvement with Affleck remains uncertain.
“Kick likes Ben and is indifferent to JLo‘s perspective,” the source added. “When their interactions began, he and JLo were already separated.
“He clarified this to her explicitly. JLo confirming their separation in April only solidified this. Both are taking each day as it comes.
“She is enjoying their time together so far. They choose to meet at the Beverly Hills Hotel for the privacy it offers celebrities, a level unmatched elsewhere.”
