Brad Pitt has reached out to his fans after two women in Spain fell for a scam where fraudsters posed as him on social media.
These two victims, one residing in Granada and the other in Vizcaya, were deceived into believing they were romantically involved with the actor, resulting in a total loss of 325,000 euros.
Through his representative, Matthew Hiltzik, Pitt expressed his sadness about the situation, stating, “It’s tragic that fraudsters take advantage of the bond between celebrities and their fans.”
He also advised fans to be vigilant and not engage with messages from supposed celebrity accounts on social platforms, reiterating that he does not maintain any social media profiles.
“This serves as a crucial reminder to avoid unsolicited online interactions, especially from celebrities without a social media presence,” he added.
Details of the Investigation
The Guardia Civil has revealed that they arrested five individuals and are investigating ten more in connection with this fraud case. The bad actors initially reached the victims through a bogus fan club dedicated to Brad Pitt.
After analyzing the personalities of the victims, they cleverly built trust and persuaded them to invest in projects falsely associated with the actor.
This criminal group primarily targeted women over 60, who were not well-versed in the dynamics of social media. They pretended to be Brad Pitt, offering romantic involvement to their targets.
Once trust was established, they coaxed the women into investing in nonexistent ventures and companies they falsely claimed were linked to the actor.
