Brooklyn Beckham, influenced by familial expectations, has chosen to shift his focus from soccer, a sport central to his father’s legacy, David Beckham. Instead, he is venturing into a field that his parents may not entirely endorse, yet they remain supportive of his passions.
At just 25, Brooklyn, the firstborn of David and Victoria Beckham, has made the decision to embrace motorsport by getting involved with a Formula E single-seater racing opportunity. This initiative aims to engage a group of influencers to promote the sport and expand its audience.
Brooklyn’s New Journey
In a statement to the BBC, Brooklyn expressed, “I’ve always had a passion for driving just like my father… My goal is to draw more attention to Formula E so more people can appreciate it. It may not have the history of Formula One, but this sport is evolving and can establish itself.“
Currently married to actress Nicola Peltz, whom he hasn’t yet informed about this new endeavor, Brooklyn has mainly engaged in non-sporting roles, such as being a model, photographer, and chef. Nevertheless, his father’s fame has provided him with numerous sponsorship opportunities for this latest venture.
Joining Influencer Ranks
Brooklyn is set to collaborate with a total of 11 influencers in the Formula E initiative, which includes renowned former soccer player Sergio ‘Kun’ Agüero. Each influencer will partner with a professional driver for six weeks of training, culminating in a race scheduled for March 5-6 in Miami.
Aware of potential scrutiny, Brooklyn stated, “Once this gets out, people might think I’m pivoting to become an F1 driver or switching careers again. However, I hope they will appreciate the mental toughness required in this sport.“
