BUZZ: Cause of Death of Kyle Jacobs, Late Husband of Kellie Pickler, Confirmed

Nearly three months after the passing of Kellie Pickler’s late husband Kyle Jacob, the cause of death has been confirmed. An autopsy report from the Davidson Country Medical Examiner obtained by Taste of Country Tuesday revealed that Jacob died from an “intraoral shotgun wound”. Metropolitan Nashville Police spokesperson Don Aaron had previously stated that Jacob died from a self-inflicted gunshot.

The Medical Examiner’s report noted that Jacob did not have any drugs in his system at the time of death, but he did have a history of “pseudoseizures, gastrointestinal bleeding, elevated enzymes and chronic alcohol use”. The manner of death was not listed in Taste of Country’s report, but it is likely ruled a suicide.

Pickler was in the home when her husband passed away. According to a police statement, she woke up and when she couldn’t find her spouse, discovered that he had been in a separate room with the door locked. It is unclear if the “American Idol” alum had been aware of Jacob’s mental health issues.

Jacob was a talented musician that worked with acts like Garth Brooks and presented a positive and uplifting image in the public eye. The week he died, Jacob took to Instagram to commemorate a career milestone. He captioned the cover of Lee Brice’s fifth album, “Hey World” which he produced, “Platinum?! SWEEEET!!! An amazing crew of incredibly talented peeps put this one together. Deeply honored to be a creative part of it…Thank you Jesus!!!”

Pickler and Jacob were married from 2011 to 2023. If you or someone you know is considering suicide, please contact the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline by dialing 988, text “STRENGTH” to the Crisis Text Line at 741741 or go to 988lifeline.org.
