BUZZ: Jessie Murph fangirls over collaborating with Diplo and ‘legend’ Maren Morris: ‘So surreal’

found fame on TikTok before signing with Columbia Records in 2021 – exclusively spoke with Page Six about her exciting rise to stardom backstage at Lollapalooza this week.

Murph’s latest single was released on July 21, a track called “Heartbroken” with Diplo (under his country music persona, Thomas Wesley) and rapper Polo G.

“Diplo actually reached out to me before I was signed, like a long time ago, and was like, ‘Hey, I f–k with your s–t,’” she recalled of how the collaboration came to be.

“And then a little bit ago, he reached out and we just started talking about the song and it kind of just happened. I’m a super big fan of both of them.”

Murph added that shooting the music video was just as fun – and a memorable moment she’ll never forget.

“I was like, ‘This is so surreal for me.’ I have listened to both of them for so long. So this was so crazy,” she shared.

“[Diplo’s] fun, that’s just him. He’s a funny dude. Great energy, super positive. I just think his aura is good advice because it’s always good. I think that’s super important, especially with collabs.”

Murph also gushed over what it was like teaming up with Maren Morris for their hit breakup duet, “Texas,” and its accompanying music video.

“So surreal, dude. I also listened to her from a very young age and, yeah, I feel like I kind of manifested it,” she marveled.

“She’s just such a legend … she’s just a f–king icon. So just watching her do her thing was so inspiring to me. Yeah, I have no words other than she’s just an icon.”

“There are more collabs coming up … more rap collabs and more country collabs,” she teased, adding that fans should have more information within “the next couple” months.

“I have some really personal music coming soon. More sad stuff, which I know I took a break from,” she continued. “It’s probably my most, like, vulnerable stuff yet.”

In the meantime, Murph has been busy gearing up to go back on the road for her “Cowboys And Angels” tour, which kicks off Sept. 13 in New Orleans. Her appearance at Lollapalooza marked her first time performing at the four-day festival at Chicago’s Grant Park.

“I’m so excited. I’m more excited than nervous, which is not normal for me,” she told us ahead of her set at the Bacardi Stage Thursday. “It’s just like excitement … I’ve got butterflies!”

Lollapalooza wraps Sunday with Lana Del Rey, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Louis The Child and L’Impératrice closing out the festival. Other bands and artists who performed earlier this week included Billie Eilish, Kendrick Lamar, Sabrina Carpenter, The 1975 and Pardyalone.
