Katy Perry went all out for King Charles III’s coronation concert on Sunday night, wearing a stunning Vivienne Westwood bespoke corseted gown. The dress was handcrafted especially for the occasion and meant to exude “baroque grandeur”. Perry accessorized with matching gold statement earrings and her hair pulled back into a sleek updo.
The 38-year-old singer, who serves as an ambassador for the King’s British Asian Trust, performed two of her classic hits, “Roar” and “Firework”, to the massive, star-studded crowd. She expressed her excitement for the event, saying she was invited to stay overnight at Windsor Castle.
Perry was joined at the patriotic bash by fellow “American Idol” judge Lionel Richie, who also holds a role with a charity close to the King’s heart. The 73-year-old singer was named a global ambassador for The Prince’s Trust in 2019. Ed Sheeran and Alanis Morissette are temporarily replacing Perry and Richie on the US-based show amid their busy coronation weekend schedules.
The star-studded show also featured performances by Andrea Bocelli, Take That, Nicole Scherzinger and the official Coronation Choir. It followed Saturday’s historic ceremony at Westminster Abbey, where Kate Middleton brought out her beloved red Alexander McQueen suit and Queen Camilla rocked a glittering crown. This weekend certainly left us with plenty of memorable fashion moments.
