Prince William and Kate Middleton celebrated their youngest son Prince Louis’ 5th birthday by sharing two new photos of the little one. The pictures, taken by accomplished portrait photographer Millie Pilkington, show Louis smiling in a blue sweater and shorts as his mom pushes him in a wheelbarrow outdoors. The couple captioned their post Saturday with “Someone’s turning 5 tomorrow… A very happy birthday to Prince Louis.”
Louis’ birthday comes just days before his sister Princess Charlotte turns 8 on May 2, and his brother Prince George will celebrate his 10th birthday on July 22. The royal family has a lot to celebrate as of late, as William’s father, King Charles III, will be coronated on May 6 at Westminster Abbey in London following his mother Queen Elizabeth II’s death last September.
However, it is unclear whether Louis will attend the historic ceremony. A source told Page Six exclusively earlier this month that Louis might not make the star-studded guest list because of his past misbehavior at royal events. Louis inspired many memes last year when he made funny faces at Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee.
His older siblings, on the other hand, are definitely attending the coronation, and George — who is second in the line of succession to the British throne — will even have a special role in the ceremony as one of the king’s Pages of Honor. Louis’ cousins Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, however, will be skipping the coronation. Buckingham Palace announced on April 12 that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s two children will be staying in California with their mom, as Archie’s 4th birthday falls on the same day as the UK event.
Harry chose to attend his father’s coronation, though we reported that the Duke of Sussex plans to jet home before his eldest child’s birthday is over. Harry, 38, will be there for Charles despite having a tense relationship with his family since resigning from his royal duties in 2020 and continuously bashing the monarchy in interviews and his memoir, “Spare.”
