Prince William and Kate Middleton celebrated their 12th wedding anniversary on Saturday, April 29th. To commemorate the special occasion, the couple shared a sweet photo of them riding bicycles together in Norfolk, England. The photo was taken by Matt Porteous and captioned with “12 years ️” on their joint Instagram account. Middleton wore blue jeans, a white top, and sneakers while her husband wore blue jeans and a dark blue button-up shirt.
The royal couple first met while they were students at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland. Rumors of a romance between them surfaced in 2004 after they were photographed together during a ski trip at a Swiss resort in Klosters. In 2007, they briefly split before announcing their engagement three years later. William presented his fiancée with his late mother Princess Diana’s famed sapphire engagement ring.
On April 29, 2011, William and Middleton tied the knot at Westminster Abbey. For the nuptials, Middleton wore a long-sleeved gown designed by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen and a Cartier Halo tiara that was given to her by Queen Elizabeth II. The couple now share three children: Prince George, 9, Princess Charlotte, 7, and Prince Louis 5.
Fans of the royals quickly flooded their comments section with messages of love and support. Wishes of “many more years of happiness and health ️” were sent to the couple as they celebrated 12 years of marriage.
