announced the exciting news on Instagram Monday alongside a photo of the “New Girl” star showing off her new bling.
“Forever starts now!!! 🥰♾️🥰,” she captioned a selfie of the pair taken after the proposal.
In the snap, Deschanel, 43, proudly held up her hand to showcase her unique engagement ring featuring three colorful stones in a flower pattern.
The “Property Brothers” host, 45, popped the question on Sunday during a family vacation in Scotland, People reports.
Deschanel’s daughter Elsie, 8, and son Charlie, 6 — whom she shares with ex-husband Jacob Pechenik — also played a role in the special moment.
The HGTV star first met the actress in August 2019 while filming an episode of James Corden’s “Carpool Karaoke” with their respective siblings: Drew Scott and Emily Deschanel.
The pair seemingly hit it off and were spotted holding hands the following month — just one week after Zooey revealed she was splitting from Pechenik, whom she married in 2015.
They confirmed their romance in October 2019 when they shared a kiss during a taping of “Dancing with the Stars.”
The pair has been going strong ever since, especially after growing their bond while quarantining together during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Despite the trying times, the couple shared glimpses into their romance — and at-home haircuts — on social media, with Zooey calling her beau the most “kind, caring, hilarious, generous, creative, nerdy, handsome and all around incredible human” in a tribute for their first anniversary.
“I am so grateful for every smile, kiss, hug, snuggle, laugh, scrabble game, escape room, breakfast, lunch and dinner we share together,” she wrote on Instagram at the time. “Even during the weirdest year for humanity I want a million billion more with you.”
Jonathan had equally high praise for the “500 Days of Summer” star during an interview with Entertainment Tonight in August 2021.
“We just celebrated our second anniversary … and I know I am dating up,” he told the outlet, adding that he plans “to keep raising the bar and keep up with those expectations.”

The lovebirds purchased their “dream home” — a fixer upper, obviously — in 2020 for $9.5 million and completed renovations on the five-bedroom Georgian revival two years later.
Before the “Elf” actress’ marriage to Pechenik, she was married to Death Cab for Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard. The pair wed in 2009 but split three years later.
Meanwhile, Jonathan was also previously married to flight coordinator Kelsy Ully. Their whirlwind romance started in 2007 and they wed just a few months later.
However, they split in 2010 and their divorce was finalized in 2013. He has no children.
