It’s doubtful Chip would have participated in ‘Rock the Block’
In all fairness, the Gaines family hasn’t really suggested any animosity with HGTV. In fact, during a conversation with Inc., they mentioned their decision came down to practicality as they evolved their brand. “We invested so much effort into something that needed to fit a particular mold, which conflicted with our expanding business,” Joanna explained to the publication (via Fox News). Clearly, stepping away from HGTV allowed them to navigate past that hurdle, yet there have been indications of mutual regard between Magnolia and their former network. Notably, “Fixer Upper: The Lakehouse” was broadcast on both Magnolia and HGTV.
It’s also worth noting that following the Gaineses’ departure from HGTV, they were succeeded by the couple from “Home Town,” Ben and Erin Napier. This sparked rumors of a feud, although Erin has refuted those claims. Given that, it’s possible that Alison Victoria’s assistant was choose for his resemblance to Chip, similar to how the Napiers were previously selected to fill the void left by Chip’s absence on the network. Regardless, it certainly sparked conversation among viewers!
