Cam Newton expressed feeling “bitter” upon learning he wasn’t invited to Christian McCaffrey and Olivia Culpo‘s Rhode Island wedding on June 29. The former teammates on the Carolina Panthers spent three seasons together.
In a light-hearted manner on his “4th & 1” podcast, Newton pondered about missing out on the oceanfront nuptials in Watch Hill.
McCaffrey took to social media to respond, reminiscing about a conversation with former NFL tight end Greg Olsen during the wedding.
McCaffrey’s Response
McCaffrey mentioned that despite wanting Newton at the Ocean House resort celebration, they hadn’t texted each other in four years.
“Me: *Talking to Greg at the bar ‘This was a great night, but you know what would’ve made it even better?’
Greg: ‘What?’
Me: ‘If Cam were here. I haven’t got a text back in 4 years. In fact, they just go green now.’
Greg: He would’ve loved it… 4 years? Even on Instagram.
Me: ‘Only once on there but that don’t count.”
Christian: ‘Why don’t he love me man?’
Newton then humorously responded.
“What number do you have?! love.”
Newton’s Banter with Brock Purdy
Newton also quipped about not being invited because of his “beef” with San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy, who attended the wedding with his wife, Jenna. Newton referenced a past incident where he called Purdy a “game manager” during the 2023 season.
“Look, damn, C Mac, I couldn’t get an invite? Is it because of the Brock Purdy beef? Was Brock there?” Newton joked on his podcast.
“F-k that, man! You lucky I wasn’t there, C Mac, because I would’ve crashed that mother f-ker. I would’ve crashed it, man. Oh my God, it looked like they had so much fun. I don’t know if I would’ve been able to go. I at least wanted to say, ‘Bro, I can’t make it.’ I at least wanted to give you a present or something.
“I’m really bitter! Now somebody can say, ‘you sound like you bitter, bro.’ I am bitter! This time I am bitter! F-k!”
