The ongoing situation involving Daddy Yankee’s recent divorce from Mireddys Gonzalez continues to escalate. Despite reports suggesting an amicable separation, the singer’s legal team has filed a lawsuit against Mireddys in the San Juan Court of First Instance. The allegation claims she misappropriated funds from their corporate accounts amounting to as much as $100 million.
Lawyer Carlos Diaz Olivo stated that multiple injunctions were initiated against Mireddys and her sister Ayeicha for withdrawing $100 million from the corporate bank accounts associated with El Cartel Records and Los Cangris without proper authorization, directing these funds into their personal accounts:
“For about a year and a half, Mr. Ayala (Daddy Yankee’s real name) had been requesting access to the companies and financial information from the Gonzalez sisters,” the lawyer stated, indicating that their requests were ignored.
He noted that the lack of data has hindered Mr. Ayala’s understanding of the business’s financial health and commitments tied to his brands.
His claims include that the poor financial management and unauthorized withdrawals have jeopardized the companies’ stability and Mr. Ayala’s interests, prompting the need for legal action to safeguard his rights.
The lawyer described the entire scenario as “regrettable.” Consequently, he felt it necessary to seek legal recourse to protect his client against those he once entrusted.
