The renowned actor, Daniel Craig, accompanied by his wife, Rachel Weisz, arrived in Venice ahead of the premiere of his latest film, Queer.

The iconic James Bond star surprised everyone with his unexpected new appearance sporting long blond hair as they landed at Marco Polo Airport. Craig and Weisz are in Venice for the premiere of Queer at the Venice Film Festival on September 3.

Craig’s fresh hairstyle has stirred up excitement and is speculated to be part of his character transformation for the upcoming movie, Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery.

This new film, which began filming in June, will see Craig reprise his role as Detective Benoit Blanc in the third installment of the Knives Out series, with plans for release next year.

For their arrival in Venice, Craig opted for a casual look in a white t-shirt and jeans, while Weisz radiated elegance in a black dress complemented with sunglasses.

Excitement Surrounds Queer Ahead of its Premiere

Daniel Craig is presently in Venice to promote Queer, directed by Luca Guadagnino.

The film, based on William Burroughs’ semi-autobiographical novella, stars Craig as William Lee, an American expat and war veteran embarking on a complicated relationship with a younger man, portrayed by Drew Starkey.

Queer has sparked interest due to its provocative scenes, notably one involving Craig’s character performing oral sex on Allerton.

Alberto Barbera, the director of the Venice Film Festival, lauded Craig’s portrayal in Queer, hailing it as the “performance of a lifetime,” suggesting it may land him his maiden Oscar nomination.

Venice Film Festival Anticipated Highlights

The 81st Venice International Film Festival, hosted by La Biennale di Venezia, spans from August 28 to September 7, 2024.

Aside from Queer’s premiere, the festival features numerous major releases. George Clooney accompanied by his wife, Amal, is also present for the debut of Wolfs, a heist thriller by director Jon Watts that reunites Clooney with Brad Pitt.

They are expected to attend the screening on September 1.

Another highlight is the premiere of Joker: Folie à Deuxon on September 4, featuring Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga.

The event will host Julianna Moore and Tilda Swinton for Pedro Almodóvar’s English-language debut The Room Next Door, with Nicole Kidman presenting her erotic thriller Babygirl on August 30.

The festival will culminate on September 7 with the showing of Pupi Avati’s The American Backyard, wrapping up what is set to be an unforgettable event brimming with star-studded brilliance in the world of cinema.
