You may recognize the voice behind Kaitlyn Dever’s father
Kaitlyn Dever is carving out her path in the entertainment world, but she’s not the first in her family to tread this ground. In January 2016, she shared on Twitter, “[E]verybody, meet my dad. (But I’m serious … this is his voice).” This tweet was accompanied by a video posted on Instagram, showcasing Barney, the well-known purple dinosaur, as he sang and danced.
Indeed, Kaitlyn’s father, Tim, lent his voice to Barney from 1999 until 2004. During a 2019 guest spot on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Kaitlyn delved into how her father landed this role. She recounted that he often entertained his figure skating students (he was also a skating coach, as was her mother) with funny voices. One day, a parent of one of his students mentioned a nationwide casting call for a new Barney voice. Kaitlyn shared, “He sent in a tape and was thrilled to hear that he got the part.”
Additionally, Tim voiced Bob the Builder for a single episode of “The Wayne Brady Show” in 2003. It’s certainly impressive for Kaitlyn to say her dad has voiced both Barney and Bob. Moreover, she’s not the only one in the family who makes her proud.
