A property investor from Bethesda, Sam Asgari, finds himself in a tough spot after acquiring a lavish Baltimore estate at a foreclosure auction for $3.24 million. This property, previously owned by actor Kevin Spacey, sits on a stunning pier that extends into the Patapsco River.
Despite winning the property at the Baltimore Circuit Court auction, Asgari faces unexpected pushback as Spacey allegedly refuses to leave the residence.
The 9,000-square-foot residence, once dubbed as “Baltimore’s most extraordinary,” was Spacey’s main home after departing from the show “House of Cards” due to legal issues. Spacey originally purchased the property in 2017 for $5.65 million, making Asgari’s acquisition significant but complicated by the actor’s reluctance to vacate.
“At the moment, he refuses to move out,” Asgari revealed to Baltimore Banner. “He’s requesting six months to leave without any payment.”
Challenges in Negotiations
Asgari disclosed that negotiations with Spacey’s legal team have become unavoidable due to the actor’s continuous residence in the property. Nonetheless, Spacey’s lawyer, Edward U. Lee III, disputes Asgari’s claims, labelling them as inaccurate.
Asgari has been trying to gain control of the estate for weeks. Initially securing the sale with a $100,000 deposit, Asgari now finds himself caught in legal hurdles rather than taking ownership of the house.
If the sale is approved by the court, Asgari might need to pursue eviction procedures to remove Spacey, potentially involving law enforcement to enforce the eviction.
