As Donald Trump prepared for a campaign rally at the Linda Ronstadt Music Hall in Tucson, the renowned singer and namesake, Linda Ronstadt, publicly denounced him, labeling his approach as “toxic politics” and branding him a “rapist.”
Ronstadt labels Trump a “rapist”
The iconic singer voiced her concerns on social media shortly before Trump’s rally, expressing her discontent that such an event was occurring in her home city and at a venue honoring her.
“I’d rather pretend this sad occurrence isn’t happening. Yet, because the venue bears my name, I must address it,” wrote Ronstadt regarding the imminent rally.
In her message, she criticized Trump’s inflammatory language, stating, “It pains me to witness the former President bring his hate agenda to Tucson, a place with rich Mexican-American heritage and a vibrant, accepting community.“
Ronstadt, acknowledged for her Mexican heritage and connection to the Tucson community, firmly opposed Trump’s policies, especially those affecting immigrants.
She pointed out the sorrow stemming from the family separation policy during his administration at the U.S.-Mexico border, claiming it “orphaned thousands of children and inflicted suffering on their desperate parents.”
In a critical note, Ronstadt referenced Trump’s controversial remarks from his 2016 campaign.
“Trump’s initial presidential campaign focused on fears of rapists crossing from Mexico. My concern is about preventing a rapist from entering the White House,” she remarked, alluding to Trump’s disparaging remarks about immigration and his ongoing legal challenges linked to sexual misconduct accusations.
In 2023, a jury in New York found Trump responsible for sexually assaulting writer E. Jean Carroll, a development that continues to attract media attention as Trump maintains his innocence.
Linda Ronstadt Joins Cat Ladies for Kamala Harris
Linda Ronstadt has expressed her endorsement for Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, both of whom have received support from various celebrities, including Taylor Swift.
“As a proud cat lady, I’m voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz this November,” said Ronstadt, in response to controversial comments made by Trump’s vice-presidential pick, J.D. Vance, about “childless cat ladies.”
Following a recent debate, Swift praised Harris as a “skillful and composed leader” and encouraged voters to support those who bring stability rather than chaos.
Ronstadt’s remarks contribute to the ongoing conversations about Trump’s impact on politics and the opposition from notable figures in the entertainment industry.
For many residents of Tucson, her sentiments carry significant weight, reflecting her deep ties to the community.
