Henry Ruggs trains behind bars with hopes of returning to the NFL

Henry Ruggs remains uncertain about his release date from prison; however, he could be eligible for parole as soon as August 2026. His ambition is to return to the football field. According to his former Alabama Crimson Tide and Las Vegas Raiders teammate, Josh Jacobs, Ruggs has been training at the Stewart Conservation Camp in Nevada to enhance his chances for a comeback. “He maintains a positive outlook. They allow him to train and focus on that,” Jacobs mentioned during an episode of “The Pivot Podcast” in April.

Jacobs is committed to supporting Ruggs as he seeks a return to the sport. “I’ve been contacting a few people on his behalf,” he shared. “Some teams have shown interest in offering him a chance.” He expresses hope that Ruggs will seize the opportunity to overcome his past mistakes. “I’m like, ‘When that moment arrives, you better not look back and show everyone that one error doesn’t define who you are,'” he added.

Apart from training, Ruggs also has a job at the Nevada Governor’s Mansion in Carson City, earning $2.50 an hour, as reported by KLAS 8 News Now in May 2024. His role allows him to work outside the facility since he has been classified as a community trusty, indicating he poses a low risk for escape and misconduct.
