On February 14, coinciding with Valentine’s Day, fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) can catch ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ in theaters worldwide. This marks Anthony Mackie’s debut as the lead in the franchise, stepping into the role previously held by Chris Evans. Despite its potential box office performance, the film is already garnering attention due to reported tensions during production.
Sources from the filming crew have spoken to Vulture, shedding light on a reportedly intense atmosphere on set, identifying Harrison Ford as a significant factor in the stress experienced. Although Ford has yet to comment, he has been described as having a strong personality.
One crew member shared that even with prior experience in Marvel productions, this shoot brought unprecedented pressure and strain. This included cutting certain scenes and making last-minute script changes that necessitated reshoots.
Comments from a crew member: “This movie may not be a hit”
According to an anonymous insider, there was a general sentiment that the film might not meet expectations. “Some action scenes were hard to believe. There were numerous frustrations during filming,” they reported.
The source commented on Ford’s demeanor, likening it to that of a “diva.” They noted, “He was among the grumpiest people I’ve encountered. As a fan, I found it disheartening. He seemed disinterested in the project, and whenever he was finished for the day, that was it. The team worked hard to keep him satisfied, but it created a really uneasy atmosphere,” they added.
“Numerous segments we filmed didn’t make it into the final cut, which is costly. I’m not suggesting the director lacked readiness for such a production, but managing A-list talent’s egos was challenging, mainly due to Ford. It was quite disheartening. Ultimately, it was the most tense Marvel shoot I’ve experienced, with everyone feeling quite apprehensive,” they concluded.
