Jennifer Lopez is preparing for an incredible and challenging performance in her new movie Kiss of the Spider Woman.
Directed by Bill Condon, this musical drama will feature Lopez taking on three unique characters and showcasing 11 musical performances, affirming her status as a versatile talent in the film industry.

Bill Condon, recognized for his films like Dreamgirls and Gods and Monsters, commended Lopez for her skill in blending music, dance, and deeply emotive acting in this film. In discussions with Collider, he highlighted the complexities of her role.
“Jennifer plays three different characters,” Condon stated. “She embodies an actress, the main character in a movie within the film, and the iconic Spider Woman, bringing to life Aurora and Ingrid. Three unique personas.”
Additionally, Lopez faced the significant challenge of performing 11 musical acts, which required her to immerse fully in singing, dancing, and character portrayal.
“It’s a musical, with 11 performances that are truly impressive,” Condon noted. “Nobody else could pull off such a feat, especially since we filmed them all in just four weeks before heading to Uruguay for the prison scenes.”
This adaptation of the classic stage musical necessitated Lopez to capture the grace and theatrical flair of a 1950s Hollywood star. Condon highlighted her ability to deliver this old-fashioned style while keeping it authentic.
“She executed an incredibly delicate performance, channeling the essence of a 1950s film without parodying it. She made it believable. I’m not sure anyone else could have achieved this.”
Diego Luna Stars Alongside Lopez in a Profound Love Story
Co-starring with Lopez in Kiss of the Spider Woman is Diego Luna, recognized for roles in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Y Tu Mamá También. Condon appreciated Luna’s innate charm and emotional depth, deeming him ideal for the part.
“I wanted him for the film because, in this story, it’s centered around love,” Condon expressed. “Diego possesses qualities such as intelligence, compassion, and humanity, embodying the essence of a student revolutionary.”
