Kevin Costner was caught off guard upon discovering that his ex-wife Christine Baumgartner is now engaged to Josh Connor, a person he previously regarded as a friend.
Connor, 49, proposed to Baumgartner earlier this week during a private dinner, just a few months following their tumultuous divorce.
This revelation was a surprise for Costner, who found out through his children. A source mentioned that Costner felt let down for not being informed directly by Baumgartner.
“He would have preferred to hear it from Christine,” the insider shared with the Daily Mail.
“It still felt like a betrayal, especially considering all they have been through.”
The timing of the news was particularly hard for him as it followed shortly after his 70th birthday on January 18, though friends expressed relief that the announcement didn’t come out until after the celebration.
Costner concentrating on personal growth
In light of this news, Costner is redirecting his focus towards his career and family. Recently spotted socializing with friends like Jennifer Lopez and Jeff Bezos in Aspen, Colorado, he remains active in his pursuits. He is set to launch a new TV show, Yellowstone to Yosemite, premiering on February 8 on Fox Nation, which will showcase his journey retracing the 1903 expedition led by President Theodore Roosevelt and naturalist John Muir.
