Kim Kardashian is addressing rumors regarding payment for her recent photo shoot with Tesla’s $30,000 Optimus robot.
A spokesperson for Kardashian informed The New York Times that the star “was not compensated” for showcasing the humanoid robot to her vast Instagram following of 359 million.
Kardashian opens up about Tesla Bot experience
Despite the buzz, Kardashian’s connection with Tesla and its CEO, Elon Musk, seems to stem from genuine mutual interest rather than any financial deal.
The founder of Skims, 44, has appeared with Musk at various events and has previously posted about her Tesla Cybertruck.
This month, her interaction with the Tesla Bot garnered notable attention online.
In an Instagram video, Kardashian playfully interacted with the robot, instructing it to wave and create a heart with its hands.
“Hi! Could you do this? I love you?” she asked.
Upon the robot imitating her, she responded with laughter and added, “Let’s go for a run.”
What began as a fun exchange transformed into a somewhat controversial nighttime photo shoot that drew mixed reactions from fans.
Many were taken aback by the shoot, labeling it as ’embarrassing’ and ‘scary.’
Some found the ‘sexualization’ of the robot to be unsettling, while others joked that Kardashian might have found her ‘soulmate.’
The shoot showcased Kardashian in sheer, nude-colored tights paired with black stockings and a garter belt print, sitting on the robot’s lap in her customized Tesla Model S.
Other pictures depicted her crouching next to the car as the robot sat comfortably in the driver’s seat.
Public reactions were varied, with some labeling the photos “disturbing,” while others humorously referred to the robot as her “soulmate.”
Though Kardashian’s representative has dismissed any financial ties with Tesla, doubts persist.
Skeptics recalled her $1.26 million settlement with the SEC in 2022 for not disclosing compensation received for promoting cryptocurrency.
