Lady Gaga Vows to Take Action Amid Trump’s Political Comeback

Lady Gaga has made a commitment to continue advocating for the LGBTQ+ community and other marginalized groups following the disappointing results of the 2024 presidential election, which she referred to as “devastating” for many individuals.

In a recent interview with Elle, just after Donald Trump became the 45th president, the 38-year-old artist shared her reflections on the election results and her ongoing commitment to social causes.

Gaga expressed her heartfelt concern for those feeling anxious about the election results.

“I feel immense love for all those who are scared today. While I’m grateful for my own fortune, I recognize how heartbreaking this election result has been for so many,” she stated.

The artist, a supporter of Kamala Harris, highlighted the significance of community and collaboration.

“This experience shows us just how much we rely on one another. Supporting one another is crucial. We won’t back down without a struggle.”

Continued advocacy and grassroots initiatives

Gaga emphasized her intention to keep raising her voice for advocacy, committing to her support for grassroots organizations.

“It’s essential to reach out, be present, and acknowledge that my struggles are different from others’,” she said, also underscoring the importance of public activism.

“Voicing your perspective through a large platform is as impactful as having private discussions. The person you project publicly should align with who you are privately.”

The actress from The Joker: Folie à Deux has consistently intertwined her creative work with her activism. She performed at President Joe Biden’s inauguration in 2021, which she considers a significant milestone in her career. In 2023, she joined Kamala Harris at a rally in Pittsburgh, delivering an inspiring address regarding women’s roles in shaping America’s future.

In addition to championing LGBTQ+ rights, Gaga co-founded the Born This Way Foundation with her mother, advocating for various causes such as women’s rights, youth empowerment, and mental health awareness. She has partnered with organizations like Advocates for Youth, the Alzheimer’s Association, and Artists for Peace and Justice.

Her activism has spanned several years, including a 2017 campaign with Biden addressing violence against women. In that public service announcement, she stated, “No man has the right to raise a hand against a woman except in self-defense. Period.”

As Gaga gets ready to launch her seventh studio album, Mayhem, on March 7, she remains firm in her resolve for social change.

“We will stand united,” she emphasized.

“It may not be easy, but I want everyone to feel profoundly loved and never overlooked.”
