A recent image shows Liam Payne entering his hotel room in Buenos Aires, serving as the last known sighting of the singer before a fatal fall. The 31-year-old former One Direction member reportedly plunged 45 feet from the Casa Sur Hotel’s third floor. Despite swift action from emergency services, his injuries were so critical that he was declared dead at the site.
Payne arrived in South America with his girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, on September 30, with plans for a five-day trip that later extended to two weeks. During their stay, he met with former bandmate Niall Horan after attending Horan’s concert at the Movistar Arena on October 2. Cassidy, 25, returned to Florida on October 12, leaving Payne alone at the hotel.
Personal Challenges Leading up to the Tragedy
Just days before his unfortunate passing, Payne was involved in legal issues with his ex-fiancée, Maya Henry, who accused him of exhibiting obsessive behavior. In the days prior to the incident, Payne shared humorous videos on social media, jokingly calling his girlfriend a “loser” for heading back home.
On the day he fell, authorities received reports of an “aggressive man” at the hotel, suspected to be under the influence. Just hours before the fatal incident, a recently aired photo from America TV showed Payne wearing a sleeveless top and heading back to his room moments before his tragic fall from the balcony into the hotel’s courtyard.
Alberto Crescenti, head of emergency services, reported that Payne sustained a “cranial fracture and extremely serious injuries,” which led to his death at the scene. Paramedics found his injuries to be “incompatible with life,” making resuscitation impossible.
Reports indicate that Payne exhibited unusual behavior hours before his death. A hotel staff member, Esteban, made two urgent calls to emergency services, first noting that Payne was “out of it on drugs” and causing disturbances in his room. Following a loud noise, a second call was placed out of fear for Payne’s safety, leading to the discovery of his body shortly after.
Forensic teams were still examining the scene late into the night, focusing on the hotel room and balcony in question. While the exact details surrounding his fall are still under investigation, local authorities continue to look into this tragic event.
