Health Issues and Surgery for Mattress Mack
Mack, at the age of 73, is a well-known entrepreneur owning the Gallery Furniture chain in Houston. His notoriety is largely due to the substantial wagers he places on significant sporting events, especially involving the Houston Astros. Unfortunately, Mack’s health is currently a concern—he recently revealed that he will be undergoing open heart surgery on Tuesday, December 10. He expressed appreciation for the prayers and support he’s received as he faces this challenge and promised to keep everyone updated on his health status. It’s hoped that his condition is not serious.
Back in August, Mack recorded a video from a hospital room, where he was being treated for some cognitive challenges. While he reassured everyone that the situation wasn’t dire, seeing him in a hospital might raise concerns given his age. Ultimately, he was using the platform to highlight his Labor Day Super Sale at Gallery Furniture, which seems better than the news of his forthcoming surgery.
Mack has made a name for himself with inventive marketing strategies linked to sports, frequently offering to refund customers for furniture purchases if their favorite teams win. As a dedicated sports fan, he has placed substantial bets on crucial games, which has solidified his reputation as “Mattress Mack” within the sports betting community. Moreover, Mack is recognized for his charitable deeds, particularly his support of the Houston area during crises, including his generous aid after Hurricane Harvey in 2017.
