The image showed the Duchess of Sussex with her dog and a basket filled with “fresh” vegetables she claimed to have picked from her garden in Southern California. She accompanied the photo with the caption, “The unofficial quality inspector of this morning’s garden haul.” However, sharp-eyed critics immediately raised doubts about the truth of her statement.
The basket displayed a diverse assortment of produce, featuring corn, leeks, squash, red bell peppers, carrots, and broccoli. While the picture seemed to emphasize Meghan’s gardening abilities, skeptics on Reddit noted that many of these vegetables are not in season.
One social media user quipped, “Wow, she’s so skilled at gardening that she can harvest every type of vegetable at any time of year.” Another commenter added, “Does she really think we’re so gullible? Seriously, corn?“
Critics further pointed out that the vegetables looked too immaculate to be freshly picked. The lack of dirt or soil on them led many to believe the produce was likely purchased from a store instead. “No signs of dirt at all. Clearly grocery store veggies,” remarked one user. Another chimed in, “It’s embarrassing that she thinks anyone would fall for this. If she genuinely gardened, she’d realize it’s best not to wash organic produce until ready to eat.”
