Popularly known as Diddy, Sean Combs has been dealing with a series of allegations that have disrupted his life. The allegations have brought attention to his history of violence, particularly towards women, leading to a pause in his professional endeavors.
The renowned Manhattan law firm, Grubman, Shire, Meiselas & Sacks (GSM&S), known for representing top music industry figures, has chosen to part ways with rapper Combs.
The Influence Behind the Firm’s Decision
Reported by Paula Froelich in NewsNation, Lady Gaga played a significant role in prompting this decision by issuing an ultimatum to the firm.
An insider disclosed, “Lady Gaga said she was leaving if they didn’t drop Diddy, and she’s too big to lose.”
To retain the high-profile client Gaga, the firm decided to end their association with Combs. Combs, who had been a client of GSM&S for more than two decades and shared a close bond with prominent attorney Allen Grubman, frequented his residence in the Hamptons.
The firm’s concern primarily stemmed from the potential domino effect losing Gaga could trigger, leading other prominent artists like Elton John, Barbra Streisand, Lil Nas X, The Weeknd, Madonna, U2, and Drake to reconsider their representation as well.
Combs’ exit follows reports of alleged misconduct, which led to New York City Mayor Eric Adams rescinding Combs’ key to the city after a video depicting the rap mogul allegedly assaulting his ex came to light. The key was later returned following a letter from Mayor Adams to Combs dated June 4, as confirmed by Fabien Levy, the deputy mayor for communications.
