Kidman lost her mother, Janelle, this past September at the age of 84, following her father’s death, Antony, ten years earlier at 75. She reflected on the weight of these losses.
“It’s about mortality, connection, and how life can hit you unexpectedly,” she expressed regarding the challenges of parenting and relationships that contribute to her emotional depth.
The 57-year-old actress shared that her grief manifests through night terrors, often waking her in distress at 3 a.m.
“It’s this intense waking experience at 3 a.m., filled with crying and gasping. I’m really in touch with it,” she revealed, emphasizing the overwhelming feelings surrounding her reflections on mortality and motherhood.
One touching memory included discovering a CD of her father’s singing, which she felt she needed to hear, while her mother found it too painful.
