Paige Spiranac has responded to critics who target her for her physical appeal and has come out in support of Sabrina Carpenter, as the young singer continues to embrace risqué themes in her performances.
Carpenter is open about her lyrics, which often revolve around sexual themes, with popular songs like “Taste” and “Espresso” addressing adult topics. Despite her success, she faces backlash from some observers who argue that her performances should be more modest.
During a recent performance, Carpenter mimicked intimate bedroom scenarios, sparking further criticism particularly because it’s suggested children may be present at her shows.
Spiranac came to Carpenter’s defense, asserting that the negative attention stems from misogynistic views about women. She believes that female artists should be free to express their sexuality and should not be judged differently based on their audience’s perspectives.
On the platform X.com, Spiranac remarked, “I can’t stand how some women selectively support others for expressing their sexuality, based on whether it caters to a male or female audience.” She emphasizes that women should feel empowered to embrace their sexuality without facing double standards, stating that one person can be deemed a creative genius while another faces derogatory labels for similar expressions.
Spiranac clarifies her focus
Although Spiranac, aged 31, has a noteworthy presence in modeling and endorsements built on her own appeal, she is quick to clarify that her comments are not self-referential.
Despite her considerable popularity and the criticism she receives for utilizing her looks, Spiranac asserts that her message goes beyond personal experiences and reflects a broader trend affecting many women.
She responded to a follower suggesting her views were reflective of her own life, stating, “This isn’t really even about me. It’s a constant theme I keep seeing with other women too.”
