Selena Gomez Has a Hilarious Blunder While Mentioning Diddy at Charity Event

Selena Gomez slips up a little while naming Diddy during speech at her charity event

Selena Gomez experienced a humorous slip during a charity event on Thursday night.

The 32-year-old star dazzled at her Rare Impact Fund Benefit held at nay Studios West, where she highlighted her charity’s mission alongside Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services (DHMS) to combat youth suicide.

“They are dedicated to the mental health of youth, offering training to prevent suicide in schools and running a drop-in center in L.A., along with their Teen Line,” Gomez remarked in a video shared by TMZ.

“I’m truly honored to collaborate with such amazing advocates.”

The event proceeded smoothly until it was time for Selena to introduce executive director Didi Hirsch, at which point she mistakenly referred to him as ‘Diddy’, leading to laughter from the audience as she chuckled at the mix-up. Following the slip, Gomez apologized, saying, “I sincerely apologize.”

Diddy was involved in legal troubles recently, facing accusations related to racketeering and sex trafficking.

The evening continued successfully

Gomez later welcomed executives Lyn Morris and another DHMS member onto the stage, sharing warm hugs as the earlier blunder was soon forgotten.

In a conversation with People, Gomez expressed that one of her key mental health strategies is to “avoid isolation.”

When launching Rare Beauty in September 2020, Gomez aimed to raise $100 million to support mental health initiatives for young people. To date, the brand’s website reports a total of $15 million raised.

“This initiative is arguably the most significant endeavor I engage in, extending beyond this event,” Gomez shared with People.

“Every day, I strive to be present for others. We’ve cultivated a community through Rare, which fills me with pride. Our primary goal has always been to help others feel less isolated.”
