British music icon Sting, now aged 73, has had to make a disappointing announcement. The beloved former member of The Police will not attend the Bass Magazine Awards this Thursday at The Observatory in Santa Ana, California, where he was set to receive an honor.
According to a message shared on his Instagram, Sting also confirmed that two upcoming concerts in Phoenix, Arizona, and Wheatland, California, have been postponed. The details were conveyed in a social media update:
“Due to health reasons advised by his doctors, Sting is regretfully canceling his participation at the Bass Magazine Awards this Thursday. His STING 3.0 concerts in Phoenix and Wheatland are also postponed to June 1 and May 28, respectively, along with his performance for the 20th anniversary of Cherrytree Music Company, which is now set for May 29.”
Why is Sting pressing pause on his schedule?
Sting will not be back on stage for his STING 3.0 tour and other engagements until the end of this month while he recuperates. However, there is speculation surrounding whether his absence is due to a serious health issue, especially considering his long-held reputation for prioritizing his health and fitness. Sting follows a macrobiotic diet, favored by both him and his wife, Trudie Styler, which shuns almost all animal products, processed foods, and sugar in favor of vegetables and organic grains.
Additionally, Sting is an advocate for self-sustainability, having owned Lake House Farm in Wiltshire since 1991. At his farm, he grows food, raises free-range chickens, catches trout, and harvests honey.
This rules out any dietary issues as the cause of his sudden need to postpone events since Sting travels with his personal chef during his tours. The exact reason for the delay has not been detailed, only that it is on the doctor’s advice.
