Sydel Curry is heartbroken over Washington plane crash and exposes fear for Steph and her family

The end of January 2025 was marked by a tragic event in the United States when a passenger jet collided with a helicopter near Washington DC’s airport.

While landing at Ronald Reagan National Airport, an American Airlines flight collided with an Army helicopter, resulting in a massive explosion in the sky and prompting a large-scale search and rescue operation in the nearby Potomac River.

Sadly, this accident resulted in no survivors, taking the lives of 67 individuals. The nation mourned collectively, with Sydel Curry, sister of NBA player Stephen Curry, expressing her grief on social media.

One particularly heartbreaking account was of a man waiting at the terminal for his wife, who had texted him that she would arrive in 20 minutes but never made it.

Sydel Curry’s Reaction

The 30-year-old social media influencer shared her sorrow over the incident, reflecting on her personal experiences.

“How many times have I sent or received that same message? It’s so tragic. My heart is heavy as I prepare for a flight I take regularly. I’m married to someone who travels all the time, and my family flies frequently—never take a moment for granted,” she posted.

This unfortunate event is considered the worst aviation disaster in the U.S. since 2009.

The crash occurred at around 9 PM local time, and emergency personnel faced “very dark and cold” conditions, as noted by Muriel Bowser, the mayor of Washington DC.
