Taylor Swift has garnered a massive fan base globally, even extending her influence to animals. This is exemplified by Serena, a rescued turkey raising awareness about the suffering faced by her species, particularly during the Thanksgiving season when millions are slaughtered.
Serena, a resident Swiftie at the Farm Sanctuary in Acton, California, was born on a small farm that subjected her to cruel practices, including painful debeaking.
“If everything went as expected, Serena would have been prepared for a holiday feast. Thankfully, she was rescued just in time and now enjoys a new life.” stated Farm Sanctuary.
The organization noted that one individual recognized Serena as a being rather than an object, allowing her to experience love and care that most turkeys never encounter.
Farm Sanctuary’s team found out that Serena is fond of music, particularly Taylor Swift. “Her top song is “All Too Well,” and she becomes visibly happy when she hears it.”
The organization adds that around 46 million turkeys are killed every Thanksgiving. “You have the power to choose a more compassionate tradition. We encourage you to celebrate kindness by symbolically adopting a rescued turkey!”
Farm Sanctuary was established in 1986 with the mission to combat factory farming abuses, advocate for reforms, and promote awareness and understanding of farm animals and the advantages of a plant-based lifestyle.
