Taylor Swift’s recent gesture towards Dave Portnoy, founder of Barstool Sports and a known supporter of Donald Trump, has left many fans upset. During the “Eras Tour,” Portnoy shared in a video that he interacted with Swift’s family, who welcomed him warmly in VIP seating. He recounted that Andrea Swift, Taylor’s mother, greeted him with an emotional hug and expressed disbelief at the negativity surrounding him, while Taylor’s brother, Austin, delivered a note from her.

The note, which Portnoy shared, thanked him for his support, stating: “Dave, I’m so happy to have you at the show tonight. Thank you for always being supportive… Love, Taylor [heart], Songwriter/Feline enthusiast.” He concluded his video by calling for tolerance instead of outrage among fans. This endorsement, however, has led to a backlash from Swift’s fanbase.
Taylor Swift’s fans express discontent over Portnoy association
Fans have previously voiced concerns over Swift’s associations with individuals that could pose a risk to her image. Following controversial connections with Matty Healy and Brittany Mahomes, now the spotlight is on Portnoy. One fan questioned, “Taylor wrote Dave Portnoy a letter? What was she thinking?” Another pointed out Portnoy’s allegiance to Trump, saying, “Taylor thanked a vocal Trump supporter who is against everything she stands for—seriously?”
Some who rarely express opinions chimed in, stating that Portnoy should not have received such recognition from Swift. Another fan criticized Swift for her past political endorsements, labeling her actions as contradictory. They stated: “Are you surprised Taylor is friends with Dave Portnoy? She has a history of saying one thing and doing another.”
