Born in Budapest, Hungary, Charles Simonyi moved to Denmark as a teenager to focus on computer programming. He eventually relocated to the U.S., where he earned his degrees from UC Berkeley and Stanford, securing a position at Microsoft. There, he played a key role in developing software such as Word and Excel, becoming a billionaire by 2015.
During his long relationship with Martha, Simonyi kept his plans for his personal life under wraps. He shocked Martha in 2008 when he casually said he was marrying Lisa, a much younger woman. This revelation was a surprise to Stewart, who detailed her shock in her documentary, emphasizing that their connection would cease as part of Simonyi’s marriage agreement.
In November 2008, Simonyi wed Lisa Persdotter, the daughter of a Swedish billionaire, just months after ending his relationship with Martha. They remain married today and have two daughters, Lillian and Livia. Notably, Simonyi is 32 years older than Persdotter. Meanwhile, Stewart has shifted her focus away from romantic relationships.
