The Heartbreak Behind the Scenes: Lily-Rose Depp Reflects on Johnny Depp’s Most Iconic Film

Lily-Rose Depp was traumatized by her father Johnny Depp's most special movie: Everyone was being so mean to him

Lily-Rose Depp, a talented young actress and model, recently opened up about her childhood memories related to her father Johnny Depp‘s films. In a heartfelt conversation published in the newest issue of Harper’s Bazaar UK, Lily-Rose reflected on how her father’s role in “Edward Scissorhands” significantly influenced her emotions as a child.

Johnny Depp has appeared in many notable movies, including the iconic 1990 film directed by Tim Burton where he portrayed a misunderstood character with scissors for hands.

Lily-Rose shared that the film affected her deeply, not out of fear of her father’s character but due to the harsh treatment he received from others.

“Movies are meant to evoke emotions. I found ‘Scissorhands’ quite traumatizing,” she stated. “It wasn’t that I was afraid of him; it was heartbreaking to see how unkind everyone was, and it truly upset me.”

The compassion she felt for her father’s character has influenced her views on acting and narrative.

Although she grew up surrounded by the film industry, Lily-Rose described her acting approach as distinctly her own compared to her father’s.

“We have different styles, but naturally, you reflect your surroundings, and I’ve always been captivated by this world,” she said. Lily-Rose has successfully forged her own identity in Hollywood, earning recognition for her work.

The movie boasts a stellar cast, featuring Bill Skarsgard as the menacing Count Orlok. Alongside Lily-Rose, the cast includes Nicholas Hoult as Ellen’s spouse Thomas Hutter, Willem Dafoe as the vampire hunter Professor Albin Eberhart Von Franz, and Emma Corrin as Anna Harding, the wife of Thomas’s friend Friedrich, portrayed by Aaron Taylor-Johnson.
