The Surge in Ticket Prices for Taylor Swift’s London Shows Following Vienna Terror Plot

Tickets to Taylor Swift's London shows skyrocket in price after Vienna terror plot

The ticket prices for the upcoming concerts of Taylor Swift at Wembley Stadium in London have witnessed a nearly 2,000 percent increase as fans rush to secure last-minute seats.

This significant surge in prices comes in the wake of the cancellation of her shows at Vienna’s Ernst-Happel-Stadion, which were initially planned for August 8, 9, and 10, due to a thwarted terrorist plot.

Initially, the London concert tickets ranged from 58 pounds for restricted view seats to 110 pounds for general admission standing.

However, resale platforms like Viagogo, Vividseats, StubHub, and Gigsberg now list standing tickets as high as 6,515 pounds, with the cheapest available at 416 pounds, according to figures obtained by Coinpoker.com. Swift is scheduled to perform in London from August 15 to 20, with each show anticipating an audience of 90,000.

Reason Behind the Vienna Gigs Cancellation

The Vienna concerts were canceled after a 19-year-old supporter of Islamic State, identified as Beran A, allegedly planned a terror attack at the venue.

Reports from Austrian media stated that the suspect had intentions to use a vehicle to target concert-goers, followed by attacks with knives, machetes, and a planned bomb detonation. The plot, scheduled around 4 p.m. when an estimated 65,000 fans were expected in the vicinity, was foiled by authorities.

In response to the security concerns, the Metropolitan Police in London have confirmed that the upcoming shows of Swift will proceed with enhanced security, including walk-through metal detectors.

A spokesperson from the Metropolitan Police mentioned that although there is no specific threat to events in London, they will closely monitor the situation. London’s Mayor Sadiq Khan also assured the public of the city’s readiness to host prominent events securely.

Swift’s concert organizer, Barracuda Music, officially announced the cancellation, citing the planned terrorist threat as the cause. Refunds for all Vienna show tickets will be processed within 10 business days. Despite the setback, many fans expressed appreciation for Swift’s prioritization of their safety.
