This article contains references to sensitive topics including child abuse and suicide.

Since its debut in 2009, “Glee” quickly became a beloved show, attracting a diverse viewership thanks to creator Ryan Murphy’s previous success with “Nip/Tuck.” However, beneath the show’s charm were troubling issues within its cast, especially involving Mark Salling, who played Noah “Puck” Puckerman. Salling’s struggle with personal issues culminated in his tragic suicide in 2018, a subject further explored in his autopsy report which disclosed alarming information.

During his time on “Glee,” Salling faced controversies, including an alleged infidelity that led to his breakup with co-star Naya Rivera in 2010. Years later, his darker struggles emerged when he was arrested on December 29, 2015, for possessing child sexual assault materials. Despite being granted bail, it was later uncovered that he had amassed a significant collection of disturbing content. In 2017, he pled guilty to child pornography charges and was set for sentencing in March 2018. Tragically, he was found dead on January 30, 2018, with his autopsy revealing further heartbreaking details.

Mark Salling had no drugs in his system at the time of his death

After pleading guilty, Salling was placed under house arrest with an ankle monitor. As per a coroner’s report referenced by E! News, Salling’s last moments were spent watching television with his father before he went missing that night. His ankle monitor was later found abandoned nearby. The official cause of death was asphyxiation by hanging. While no illegal drugs were detected, his blood alcohol level was registered at 0.095 at the time of death, indicating intoxication.

Following his passing, the legal proceedings against Salling were dropped. A family source mentioned to People that Salling had been grappling with significant inner turmoil, suggesting, “It was evident he was battling demons.” The source highlighted the concern that he lacked the support needed to confront his issues.

Under the terms of his plea agreement, Salling would have faced four to seven years in prison and required to register as a sex offender if he had lived, with a potential release by 2025.
