The Unlikely Connection: A Star Athlete’s Journey Alongside Barron Trump in High School

The Star Athlete Who Attended The Same High School As Barron Trump

While Barron Trump is often recognized as a notable attendee of Oxbridge Academy, it’s NFL athlete Travis Homer who stands out as the institution’s most celebrated sports figure. Donald Trump once shared a humorous anecdote regarding Barron’s potential basketball career, revealing that his son preferred soccer instead. Nonetheless, Barron’s fame is overshadowed by Homer, who plays the very sport his father disapproved of for him.

During his time at Oxbridge, Homer made a name for himself at the 7-on-7 Adidas South Florida Shootout held at the University of Miami, catching the attention of many scouts. He expressed pride in representing his still-growing school, stating it was a great opportunity for exposure.

By accumulating an impressive 3,220 yards and 41 touchdowns in high school, Homer chose to continue his education locally by committing to the University of Miami in February 2016, where other players from his school also secured scholarships. After three seasons, he decided to enter the NFL draft in 2019.

Travis Homer’s Journey to NFL Success

Homer’s path to the NFL began with his draft declaration after junior year. Although selected at a less than promising position, 204th overall, the running back found his footing with the Seattle Seahawks. Following four seasons, he transitioned to being a free agent and was subsequently signed by the Chicago Bears in March 2023.

In Seattle, Homer contributed mainly on special teams rather than as a primary running back, a stark contrast to his high school experience. Adapting to his new role, he expressed contentment with his position, looking forward to many more years ahead. Though not among the highest earners in the league, he earned between $1.9 million and $2.1 million in his first two seasons with the Bears.

Having enjoyed success, Homer aimed to contribute to his former high school. In July 2023, he initiated a football camp at Oxbridge Academy, marking the first such event hosted by an NFL alumnus of the school. His motivation stemmed from a desire to reconnect with his roots and give back to the community that shaped him.
