Today, she stands out as one of the most exciting new voices in R&B. Her career has flourished with notable acting roles, like Hilary Banks in the Peacock series Bel-Air, along with her music career under High Standardz/Def Jam Recordings.

The CEO of Def Jam, Tunji Balogun, remarked, “Coco brings a seasoned confidence along with the freshness of a new artist.”

Although early fame came from acting, music has always been Coco‘s greatest love. She considers it her “comfort and purpose,” a guiding force through challenging times.

After her initial success with Disney, she encountered difficulties, including being let go by Hollywood Records following the release of her debut EP. Nevertheless, Jones continued to push forward, independently releasing music while perfecting her skills.

Her dedication was rewarded with the 2023 hit single “ICU,” earning her several Grammy nominations, including Best R&B Song and Best New Artist.

This song, a touching ballad reflecting on heartbreak, struck a chord with listeners and topped the Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart for several weeks.

“This recognition feels like validation for my journey,” Jones stated regarding her Grammy nominations. “It reminds me that storms eventually pass, and the weather will change.”

Coco Jones to Sing National Anthem at Championship

On January 20, Coco Jones will sing the national anthem at the College Football Playoff National Championship in Atlanta, marking a significant moment in her career.

Scheduled on Martin Luther King Day, the event will also feature Dr. Bernice A. King participating in the coin toss.

Coco’s impactful performance will include the support of a Joint Armed Forces Color Guard and a local volunteer group showing off the American flag.

Additionally, the Spelman College Glee Club plans to sing “America the Beautiful,” accompanied by ASL performances from Atlanta Area School for the Deaf students.

This event highlights Coco’s commitment and multifaceted talent. While working on her role in season three of Bel-Air, she is simultaneously creating her debut album.

“The story of my EP is complete,” she explains. “Now, it’s about embracing growth and authenticity.”

Coco’s path from Disney star to a prominent R&B artist showcases her resilience and skill.

As she performs at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, audiences will not just see a singer but an artist embracing her moment.
