Fitness personality Vanessa Mariposa, celebrated for her emphasis on wellness, recounted a harrowing incident in a video on her Instagram that she shared on May 26. She was a victim of drugging and theft at a rooftop party in Mallorca, Spain.
In her account, Vanessa shared that she and a friend felt secure attending the party together, always keeping an eye on their drinks. However, after consuming some wine, both suddenly became extremely ill. Vanessa lost her ability to stand, experienced multiple episodes of vomiting, and ultimately blacked out, indicating a serious issue.
A terrifying ordeal: Drugged, robbed, and abandoned
Doctors later discovered that they had been given date rape drugs in their drinks. In addition to this, her Cartier bracelet was stolen, and her phone’s SIM card was removed—an act she believes was intended to hinder her ability to seek assistance.
Through her message, Mariposa emphasized that the outcome could have been much worse, which motivated her to share her story as a cautionary tale for other women. She urged everyone to exercise caution and never let their drink out of sight, as even a momentary lapse in attention can leave one susceptible.
“I truly believe those responsible had malicious intentions… otherwise, they wouldn’t have drugged us or taken measures to impede our ability to call for help,” she mentioned in her post. Luckily, a nearby friend realized something was amiss and helped them return home safely. Nonetheless, the emotional scars and anxiety from the incident remain.
This event underscores the precariousness one can face, even in environments that seem secure, highlighting the necessity to remain vigilant, particularly in unfamiliar places.
