There’s no official word on what Gerwig’s take on Narnia will entail. When Netflix announced that they’d gotten the rights to the series, they said that their new series would entail “classic stories from across the Narnia universe.” So that means Gerwig wouldn’t necessarily adapt “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe,” “Prince Caspian,” or one of the main novels. Many fans on social media noted that the eldest sibling, Susan Pevensie, is treated cruelly in the novels and Gerwig could give her a redemption moment, á la Gerwig’s twist on Amy March in “Little Women.” We’ll have to wait and see.
